Presiding Prelate | Bishop Dennis E. Huggins, Jr.

Bishop Huggins was saved on September 2, 1979, at the First apostolic Church Of Inglewood (California), where he was trained under the late Bishop Wayne S. Davis. Bishop Huggins had very influential people in his life during his training such as Dr. Wanda Davis and Pastor Pearl Huggins. He received his call to ministry shortly after he was saved. During this time he also met his wonderful bride Pastor Pearl at the First Apostolic Church of Inglewood. Shortly after being saved, Pastor Pearl and Bishop Huggins were married on March 22, 1980. In May 1984, he was chosen by God to move to Meridian, MS. They moved to Meridian with, at the time, their three children, Dennis III (now deceased November 6, 2005), Julia and Jawanda. Shortly after their move three more children were born into their lives, Jafinis, Daniel and Judah. Together with his wife they founded the First Apostolic Church of Meridian and Quitman under their present organization, Messiah’s Gospel Ministries.

On November 9, 1992, Bishop was elevated to Bishop-Elect under the WWFCM International. August 8, 1993, he was ordained a Bishop in Inglewood, California. After Bishop Wayne Davis’ demise is when he later started the Messiah’s Gospel Ministries.

Academically, Bishop Huggins has excelled. Not long after he was saved, the Lord turned his direction from Law School to an ordained minister. He graduated from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. Bishop later graduated from Mississippi State University with a Masters Degree in Community Counseling. He also earned an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Educational Counseling and Christian Counseling from Apostolic International University of Grace and Truth, San Diego, California. He is currently working as Director of Psychology at MTC and his seminary accolades are from the world won For Christ Ministries and Messiah’s Gospel Ministries. He holds a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Divinity.

Above all, Bishop Huggins has sustained many travesties in ministry but through it all, he and his wife have overcome tragedy because of the power of the Holy Ghost. Bishop’s receiving of the Holy Ghost has helped him make it through the things that he has endured in ministry. On Thanksgiving Day 2005, he moved his congregation into their new edifice. Bishop held on to the vision that God gave him for thirteen years- but God did it in His own time!

He loves being baptized in Jesus Name especially after being delivered from a world of drug addiction. His famous claim to Christendom, besides being saved, is his association with Jesus and His Glory. He loves to minister on God’s Glory. He has experienced many miracles in ministry and is looking forward to God’s Glory in the future.
